Did you know that water heating is often the top energy end use in smaller ADUs or homes with a higher occupant density?
Katy Hollbacher is delivering Part I and II presentations, Passive House and Energy Modeling: The Foundation for True High-Performance Buildings, at the upcoming AIA Western Region Conference in Jackson, Wyoming. The Western Region comprises Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming--encompassing mountains and deserts along with their harsh conditions and extreme temperature ranges. Designing and building high-performance, low-demand buildings in this region isn't easy, but understanding heat flow dynamics (which isn't rocket science, yet is often misunderstood or inadequately considered in the design community) and how to apply that to projects is the critical first step.
The conference is October 2-5, 2013 at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. Learn more and register here--and we hope to see you there!
