According to the Teton County Internal Sustainability Strategy's Baseline Sustainability Inventory Report, Teton County buildings currently contribute more than 70% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from County operations. The second recommended action from the Strategy's Implementation Plan was to conduct energy audits for the Teton County Recreation Center and Teton County Courthouse, which are the two highest energy-using County facilities.
In late 2017 Beyond Efficiency was hired to complete a comprehensive energy audit of the building systems and recommend improvements to reduce energy usage and costs, while maintaining or improving occupant comfort and maintenance requirements. The results of the Courthouse audit, completed in the spring of 2018, revealed significant improvement opportunities from 25-50% annually depending on the level of retrofit undertaken.
